What is the outcome of the year in terms of attendance?

We are at nearly 98,000 entries. It’s a very good year, the second after 2019 when we were at 105,000. The month of January was a little sluggish but afterwards, we had films that did very well, including big French hits. Among the films with the most admissions, there are “A Little Thing Plus” (9,704), “The Count of Monte Cristo” (4,620), “Vice Versa 2” (4,276) , “Viana 2” (4,010), “L’Amour Ouf” (2,737) or even “Despicable Me 4” (2,636). We also received 8,000 schoolchildren thanks to the effect of the Culture Pass, which I find very beneficial.

Do you have a very varied program, by choice or by obligation?

First of all, we have a significant aperture amplitude which allows us to program a lot of films. This multiprogramming is a desire because we are the only cinema in the Guingamp region. So, it’s good to have a wide offering to give people a choice. This is also why we are classified as Arthouse with the Young Audience, Heritage and Repertoire labels and also, for the first time this year, Research and Discovery. And we strive to promote films by creating events around them such as movie meetings, movie snacks, movie concerts, etc.

Which films are you banking on in 2025?

“The Bodin’s are going into a tailspin,” it’s sure to work. (The preview on February 8 in the presence of the actors is already sold out). In 2025, there will also be “Les Tuches 5” and the sequel to Avatar which will inevitably attract people. And I also hope for some nice surprises like we had this year with “En fanfare”, for example. At the beginning of December, I was at the Marrakech International Film Festival where I loved a film by Walter Salles called “I’m Still There”. It is a portrait of a woman during the dictatorship in Brazil. Afterwards, will there be a lot of entries, I don’t know.

Where is the project to extend your cinema?

We carried out a market study which reassures us that five theaters would be viable. The prospect would be 170,000 to 185,000 entries. And this study revealed that of the two-screen cinemas in which attract the most admissions, we are positioned in 5th place. The first three are in and the 4th is on the outskirts of . So, it’s a real satisfaction to reach this rank even though we don’t have a big city around us. We will now work with an architect specializing in cinema to see which configuration to adopt. I would like this project to be well advanced within four years because, at some point, we will end up stagnating.
