the dates of the 2025 season in the South-West

A new bullfighting season is being prepared for 2025 in the South-West, with bullfights and novilladas organized in arenas in five departments: Landes, Pyrénées-Atlantiques, Gers, Gironde and Hautes-Pyrénées.

The first cartels were revealed in December 2024, and other announcements will soon complete this calendar established with the Association of organizing committees of bullfights and novilladas of the South-West.

FEBRUARY

Arzacq. The first show of the 2025 bullfighting season will take place in Béarn on Sunday February 23. A novillada without picador is announced for 4:30 p.m., with cattle from Sepúlveda de Yeltes and bullfighters whose names have yet to be revealed. A fiesta campera is planned for 10:30 a.m., featuring Dorian Canton.

Mars

Magescq. In the Landes, this temporada will kick off on Sunday March 9. The day of the Magescq Bullfighting Club will begin with a tenua, at 10:30 a.m., and will continue from 4 p.m. with a novillada without picador, the cartel of which is not yet known.

Avril

Saint-Perdon. The Portuguese breeding of Condessa de Sobral, unique in the South-West, will present six novillos in the Plumaçon arena of Mont-de-Marsan, on Saturday April 5. This show, organized by the La Muleta peña of Saint-Perdon, will take place from 4 p.m. It should be preceded by the presentation of the Cartels of the Fêtes de la Madeleine de Mont-de-Marsan.

Gamarde. La Peña taurine Gamardaise will celebrate its tenth anniversary with the first of the bullfights given in the South-West during this year 2025, on Sunday April 6. At 4:30 p.m., six bulls from the Montalvo ganaderia will be offered to Morenito de Aranda, David Galvan and El Rafi.

Garlin. The spring novillada of the Garlin taurine Peña is scheduled for Sunday April 13, at 4:30 p.m., with the presentation in France of the breeding of Domecq Nuñez. At 11 a.m., a qualifying fiesta campera will complete the afternoon cartel, the names of which are not yet known.

Aignan. Sunday April 20. At 5 p.m., bullfight.

Mugron. For its bullfighting Easter on Monday April 21, the Mugronese peña selected six novillos from Baltasar Iban. For this paseo scheduled for 4:30 p.m., the novilleros have not yet been made official. The same goes for the young bullfighters who will bullfight, from 11 a.m., novillos without a picador from Alma Serena.

May

Aire-sur-l’Adour. These are six novillos from the Palha breeding which will emerge from the toril of the Maurice-Lauche arenas, from 5 p.m., Thursday 1^is may. La peña Los Arsouillos has chosen to reschedule this Portuguese ganaderia following its success in 2024.

Bougue. A new edition of Bolsin de Bougue will take place on Sunday May 4. The qualifying phase will begin at 9:30 a.m. The finalists will then meet at 5 p.m. for a novillada without picador.

June

Captious. Sunday 1^is June. At 5 p.m., novillada. At 11 a.m., fiesta campera.

Vic-Fezensac. The Vicois Bullfighting Club has announced the bull breeding programs scheduled for its Pentecost feria, and the event planned for its closing. Saturday June 7, at 6 p.m., bullfight with six bulls from Saltillo. At 11 a.m., novillada with six novillos from Prieto de la Cal. Sunday June 8, at 6 p.m., bullfight by Dolores Aguirre. At 11 a.m., bullfight competition with toros from Miura, Prieto de la Cal, Villamarta, Veiga Teixeira, Pallares and Pagès-Mailhan. Monday June 9, at 5 p.m., bullfight with three toros from Flor de Jara and three toros from Arauz de Robles for Morenito de Aranda, solo.

Aire-sur-l’Adour. Sunday June 15. At 6 p.m., bullfight.

La Brède. Saturday June 21. At 6 p.m., bullfight.

Saint-Sever. Sébastien Castella, for his 25th^e season as bullfighter, Clemente and Tomas Rufo will begin their season in the South-West bullring at Cap de Biscay. From 6 p.m., they will face Zacarias Moreno’s toros during this bullfight on Sunday June 22.

Mimizan. On Saturday June 28, from 6 p.m., six bulls from the French breeding of Pagès-Mailhan will be presented during the bullfight organized by the Mimizan Bullfighting Club. The bullfighters responsible for confronting them are not yet known.

July

Castelnau-Rivière-Basse. Saturday July 5. At 6 p.m., novillada without picador.

Eauze. Saturday July 5. At 6 p.m., bullfight. At 11 a.m., novillada without picador.

Bayonne. Friday July 11. At 6:30 p.m., bullfight. Saturday July 12. At 6:30 p.m., rejoneo bullfight.

Plaisance du Gers. Monday July 14. At 6 p.m., novillada without picador.

Mont-de-Marsan. The Madeleine Festival will take place from Wednesday July 16 to Sunday July 20. In the Plumaçon arenas, five bullfights, at 6 p.m. each day, will feature bullfights from Santiago Domecq, Fuente Ymbro, El Parralejo, Victorino Martin and Escolar Gil. A novillada by Philippe Cuillé will take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday July 19, and a novillada without picador with livestock by Alma Serena and Jean-Louis Darré is scheduled for Thursday July 17.

Saint-Vincent-de-Tyrosse. The Tyrosse Festival Bullfight is scheduled to take place from 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 26. At 11:30 a.m., novillada without picador from the Tyrois Bullfighting Circle.

Garlin. Saturday July 26. Novillada.

Orthez. A mano a mano ganadero between the Portuguese breeding of Veiga Teixeira and the Spanish of Dolores Aguirre is announced in the Orthez arenas for 6 p.m., Sunday July 27. At 11 a.m., for the novillada, four novillos from Yonnet will be fought.

August

Riscle. Saturday August 2. At 6 p.m., bullfight. At 11 a.m., novillada without picador.

Hagetmau. Two bullfighting shows are announced for the next Hagetmau festivals. On Saturday August 2, at 6 p.m., a novillada without picador with cattle from Alma Serena. Sunday August 3, at 6 p.m., novillada with a batch of San Isidro.

Villeneuve-de-Marsan. Tuesday August 5. At 7 p.m., bullfight.

Maurrin Friday, August 8th. At 7:30 pm, novillada sans picador.

Parentis-en-Born. Saturday August 9. At 6 p.m., novillada. Sunday August 10. At 6 p.m., novillada.

Soustons. Sunday August 10. At 6 p.m., novillada.

Dax. The Feria de Dax will take place between Wednesday August 13 and Sunday August 17. Five bullfights, a rejoneo bullfight – with cattle from Murube –, a novillada, with a prize from Juan Manuel Criado, and two novilladas without picador are scheduled.

In December, the Dacquoise Taurine Commission formalized the breedings selected for this 2025 season, including the two bullfights planned for Toros y Salsa: Santiago Domecq, Robert Margé, Pedraza de Yeltes, Juan Pedro Domecq, Victoriano del Rio, Victorino Martin and El Freixo .

Roquefort. For its novillada on Friday, August 15, at 6 p.m., the Cercle bullfighting is banking on six novillos from the Escolar Gil ganaderia. At 11 a.m., the novillada without picador will offer erales from Alma Serena and Astarac.

Maubourguet. Sunday, August 24th. At 6:30 pm, novillada sans picador.

Rion-des-Landes. Sunday August 24. At 6 p.m., novillada without picador. At 10:30 a.m., novilada without picador. Monday August 25. At 6 p.m., capea.
