The French view of comic actors/actresses and comedy films

After a year 2024 marked by an increase in cinema attendance in , Ifop for Match questioned the French on their views on comedy actors and actresses, as well as on comedy films.

The first lesson from this study is that Coluche (whose average score given by the French is 16.5/20, the score of 20 meaning that they really like this actor) is the French’s favorite deceased comic actor. “There is an obvious attachment to the character, to his films, but also to his fight. By placing him at the head, the French salute his action at Restos du coeur. It is an emotional and social bond. » remarks Frédéric Dabi.

He is closely followed by Bourvil (16.4) who has significant sympathy capital “linked to the gentle dreamer characters he plays. He is the painkiller, the simpleton, the one who lets himself be overwhelmed, not always in control of the situation. Many people recognize themselves in him. » observes Frédéric Dabi.

Louis De Funès (16.1), who plays in five of the ten favorite comedies of the French, comes in third position. “He is more present than ever because the films in question are broadcast on television, because the younger generation, from Dany Boon to Philippe Lacheau, cite him as a model. He attracts a form of unanimity on his talent, without necessarily being interested in his person. » according to Frédéric Dabi.

Furthermore, Gérard Jugnot tops the ranking (15.6) of the French’s favorite living comic actors and actresses. The actor is ahead of another member of the Splendid troupe: Thierry Lhermitte (15.3). Pierre Richard (14.9) completes this podium. The French’s favorite actress is Josiane Balasko (14.8) followed by Isabelle Nanty (14.6).

We observe that younger actors and actresses like Géraldine Nakache and Jonathan Cohen display a significant lack of notoriety (48% of respondents do not know the first and 47% the second). “It is the triumph of long careers, proof of the attachment of the French to people they have known for a long time. » concludes Frédéric Dabi.

Finally, the favorite comedy film of the French is La Grande Vadrouille (16.1), followed by Les Bronzés sont du ski (15.8). Le Corniaud (15.1), Santa Claus is trash (15.1) and The Adventures of Rabbi Jacob (15.1) complete this top 5. Success of the year 2024, the film A little thing in plus (15.0) achieved by Artus comes in sixth position in the ranking.
