Four minutes where not everything is allowed. Non-consensual kiss on the mouth, look under a dress or uncomfortable grunt… Different sequences compiled by The Effronteea feminist media, point out the behavior of the host Arthur towards women in his game show “Take it or leave it”.

Faced with this bad buzz, the star host of TF1 is suspected of acting to try to delete these problematic archives. A Checknews article explains that conflicting versions are circulating.

“It was a different time”

On December 26, the show Arthur, the kid was offered on TF1, highlighting the thirty years on air of its star presenter. He talks about his way of animating, particularly games. “We did 800 issues, with 6 million viewers,” Arthur declared on Parisianspeaking of “Take it or leave it”. But it was a different time. I was quite close to the candidates. When they cried, men and women alike, I held them in my arms, like a family. Today, we could no longer animate in the same way. » He also explains that “we had to do a little daily one-man show because the show lasted forty minutes while the game mechanics only made up half of it”.

A way that raises questions, given the four minutes of disturbing sequences edited by The Effrontee. For example, we see Arthur whispering in the ear of a candidate: “I always liked women, a little, who resisted me and everything, who spoke badly to me…” Then while the young woman is visibly embarrassed, continues: “It’s true, yes, you speak badly to me, that’s what I’m saying, I love it. »

The video was deleted by its author. But the controversy over the actions of the host, now 58 years old, is not going away on social networks.

Organized censorship?

On X, the Cerfia account saw its profile locked on December 27, after sharing the video in a post viewed more than 9 million times. “This post was reported directly to X, and our account was even locked! Obviously, we will appeal to avoid its deletion. It’s extremely rare that this happens to us,” Cerfia said.

In response, this deletion of the post sparked a vast movement to share images. Officially, the footage is flagged for copyright issues. But many Internet users accuse Arthur and his lawyers of being at the origin of the censorship. According to Cerfia, the sequence would have, in fact, been denounced by the company Samaron, which belongs to the host for “Illegal, defamatory and truncated textual and photographic use based on extracts from the show “To take or to to leave”. » The message also states: “Please remove this contentious content as quickly as possible. »

A version completed by journalist Alice Welter, who published the original edit on her Instagram account l’Effrontée. She explained to Checknews: “I read that Arthur’s lawyers had contacted me but that is not the case at all. I preferred to delete my video for fear of copyright, because many accounts were suspended by relaying my video on Twitter. »

“Sexual assault”

“Many accounts have in fact seen their posts censored, and some have even had their accounts temporarily blocked,” notes the media Contre Attaque, which expresses doubts about the legal reasons put forward to justify these blocks: “This is obviously only a pretext since the images in question are more than twenty years old, it is a montage of short extracts, and above all, all these broadcasts are online in full on YouTube, on accounts other than those from TF1 or Arthur’s company. »

However, as pointed out by the historian Ludivine Bantigny at the origin of a thread on There is no doubt that the controversy is far from over.
