Last November, long before he performed at the inauguration of the Galeries Lafayette Christmas lights, Vianney gave an interview to our colleagues at Gala magazine. He notably remembered his worst Christmas present: “I remember, when I was very little, I was beaten by my parents. Because I cried so much I wasn’t happy with a gift. In ‘but you don’t realize how lucky you are’ mode, all that. And I had a bicycle helmet, actually. And when I put it on, I felt so ugly, I said ‘I’m sorry but it’s horrible what you gave me!’“. “And after that, when I didn’t really like a gift I didn’t say it. And I said ‘thank you’ politely”, he said. Father of a blended family, Vianney is the father of little Edgar but also the father-in-law of his wife Catherine Robert’s daughter. He also dedicated the song to her “Step-dad” and spoke last July to the microphone of France Bleu about the recipe for a perfect understanding.
On the program? “Two ingredients”, namely “patience” and “love”. And to detail: “It is simply by loving this child that things will go well in the long term. It’s a matter of patience and love (…) Each person with whom we build our life has an experience before. And that must be embraced. You shouldn’t judge him…”. To mark the start of the new year, Vianney decided to offer a rare retrospective on his Instagram account with the most beautiful moments of the year 2024 in his eyes. In the caption, he wrote: “From a Victoire de la Musique at Notre-Dame, through my life as a husband and (step)dad forester that you know less: here is my 2024! Thank you for always being so present, despite my songs without touringmy feet on the chair, & my zero-effort on the red carpets. HAPPY NEW YEAR 2025 EVERYONE”. In the photos and videos that followed, we could see his little blond head Edgar riding a bike, but also quad biking. And that’s not all! The dad shared other equally touching extracts. Family music sessions with his cellist wife but also his tractor trips in the fields, his performance at the wedding of Renaud and Cerise where he sang with great pleasure, a fraternal hug with Kendji Girac, his friend whom he defended against winds and tides. Last but not least, we could discover his beautiful daughter in the middle of horse riding training.
Vianney, a (step)dad present
Vianney is very close to his daughter-in-law with whom he makes no distinction from his son. At the microphone of RFM, he confided during a past interview: “I love her (her daughter-in-law) deeply. (…) A child, we can only love him, there are no other solutions“. Concerning little Edgar, he concluded: “I am present, I think I must make lots of mistakes like all dads but you see at least, he sees me every morning, every evening, every weekend. I am really present, I have a job where I can be in control of my schedule so afterward it’s up to me to make the choice to be there or not.”
