The duo was born on the benches of the Nicolas-Appert high school in Orvault, but it was on the summer market of La Bernerie-en-Retz (Loire-Atlantique) that they took off. “Between the candy stand and the army stand,” smiles Quentin Bazantéalias Kant, one of the two musicians of Chadame.
Since the summer of 2020, the group has been delighting its audience with its text songswith mixed influences.
“The 3Rs, a mix between the sound of rock, the poetry of rap and the vibrations of reggae,” say Quentin and Denis Teillet, the other member of the pair, when asked to classify their music.
On stage, two folk guitars and one electric as well as harmonicas and a loop pedal accompany the two singers.
280 concerts in 4 years
Chadame, it’s 280 concerts in four years and a 3e public prize during the 20th edition of the Pornic Chanson de café festival this year. And a new EP, In the garageavailable since December 15, 2024 on all streaming platforms.
Six tracks, including a featuring with the Yonnais singer La Broma, to conclude in style a year 2024 which will have taken the group to a new milestone: that of professionalization. “Quentin is now intermittent in entertainment. This means that we had to find 43 declared dates for him, with stamps,” explains his friend who is aiming for the same status in 2025.
Chadame is now collaborating with the young independent label DIFF Records de Machecoul who helped him with his latest EP. Two clips were made by Alternative Visions for the songs In the garage et Airplane Modethe latter filmed in the middle of the hilly landscapes of Auvergne.
The carefree beginnings, the first songs composed in Quentin’s garage, already seem far away. “When we started, we didn’t know what it was to be artists. We took our bikes, our cart and set off to the markets, to La Bernerie, to Moutiers… Friends gave us some tips so that we could be a little more structured,” laugh the two acolytes.
Make more rooms
After the rise in power, 2025 should be that of confirmation.
“We want to enter the world of concert halls and festivals, to be listened to more on the radio too,” confides Quentin.
With this in mind, the duo would like to work with a directoreven if he has not yet unearthed the rare pearl.
The group will be in concert at the Mathurin bistro-restaurant in Machecoul on Friday January 10, 2024, then at B-Mousse in Saint-Philbert-de-Grand-Lieu on the 24th.
But actually, Chadame, where does this name come from? “It’s the contraction of two words that we often found in our songs at the beginning. For us, it’s like a spiritual quest, the racing heart and the shaman mixed together.”
