A 30-minute showcase at 1 a.m.
In total, around 2,000 spectators were able to attend the French singer’s showcase at the Hannut Covered Market. For thirty minutes, Gims played classics including “Désolé” from Sexion d’Assaut, “Spider” and “Don’t be shy”. The event, which was sold out, saw the star arrive at exactly 1:10 a.m., explains Nicolas Corthouts. “When we started talking, the idea was that he would do Hannut, then Mons and finally Tournai. For us, he was supposed to perform at the base at the stroke of midnight but yesterday his team warned us that he would be there a little later. He was to give an interview for French television after performing on the Parisian Champs-Élysées. We adapt to the artists’ schedules, we are not going to impose a schedule on them, especially for such an important name. Around 12:55 a.m., we got the news of his imminent arrival and at 1:10 a.m. he was there.”
Red Sound is used to this kind of small delay and to deal with any eventuality, one technique remains infallible. “We always remain very vague about the times when artists visit, explains Nicolas Corthouts. We just said it would happen a little after midnight. In the end he showed up at 1am, it’s not a long wait to have the chance to see Gims in Hannut.”
Once his Hannut showcase was over, the Parisian singer and rapper was not yet done with the New Year. He hit the road again around 2 a.m. aboard the converted van in which he traveled to carry out a third live performance on the same evening, this time in Mons.
