Despite some frustrations since the opening of the free agent market, the Toronto Blue Jays remain aggressive during the off-season.
The journalists of MLB Network Jon Morosi and Mark Feinsand reported that the Jays sent formal contract offers to outfielder Anthony Santander in the final days.
The terms of the offers are unknown, but according to the journalist from KPRC2 Ari Alexander, Santander is reportedly looking for a long-term contract and is one of the most coveted players on the market. In 2024 with the Baltimore Orioles, the power hitter hit 44 home runs and produced 102 runs.
Toronto in the race for Alex Bregman
The Jays are also reportedly willing to offer a golden bridge to free agent Alex Bregman.
According to information from Jon Heyman of MLB Networkthe Canadian team as well as the Detroit Tigers are the favorite teams to obtain the services of the star third baseman.
Bregman likely won’t return to the Houston Astros, where he spent the first nine years of his career. Astros general manager Dana Brown mentioned a few weeks ago that negotiations with Bregman had stalled.
Houston also welcomed third baseman Isaac Paredes from the Tampa Bay Rays as well as first baseman Christian Walker, who signed a $60 million contract with the Astros.
After contract offers to stars Juan Soto and Shohei Ohtani last year, the Jays are signaling that they want to invest in their future. Note that Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Bo Bichette are entering the final year of their contracts.
