From Georges Bizet, who died 150 years ago, to the Philharmonie de , the 10th anniversary of whose inauguration we will celebrate, the year 2025 will provide the opportunity to celebrate immense musicians, memorable works and renowned institutions.

Honor to French musicians, 5 immense composers will be honored in 2025. Starting with Georges Bizet, we will celebrate not only the 150th anniversary of his death (June 3, 1875) but also those of his legendary opera Carmenpremiered 3 months earlier at the Opéra-Comique. 150 years is also the anniversary of the birth of Maurice Ravel in Ciboure (March 7, 1875), which the Philharmonie de Paris will celebrate throughout the year.

Died 100 years ago (July 1, 1925), Erik Satie will be honored all over the world and particularly in Honfleur, his hometown. The celebrations of the centenary of the birth of Pierre Boulez (March 26, 1925) have already begun thanks to the Les Siècles orchestra which paid tribute to him in before performing at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées on January 7. Ircam, the institute he created in 1970, will pay tribute to him throughout the first quarter through concerts given in , Germany, Japan and Italy.

Finally, Georges Delerue, the famous film score composer, would have been 100 years old on March 12. Several retrospectives and concerts around his compositions will pay tribute to him throughout France and even in Hollywood, since he received an Oscar in 1980.

Dimitri Shostakovich and Johann Strauss II in the spotlight

This year, Russia will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the death of Dmitri Shostakovich. From Saint Petersburg, where he was born, to Moscow where he died on August 9, 1975, several memorial concerts will pay tribute to him. In France, the Russian composer will be featured in 5 concerts during the Verbier Festival.

The Palais Garnier was inaugurated 150 years ago

In Paris, the 150th anniversary of the inauguration by President Mac Mahon of the Palais Garnier on January 5, 1875 will be celebrated.
