From Tuesday January 7 to Friday January 31, 2025, the town will host a committed exhibition entitled “Let’s free the pencils”, at the initiative of the Department. This tribute to freedoms and artistic creation will be visible at the Town Hall and the Media Library.
The event takes on particular symbolism, its inauguration coinciding with the 10th anniversary of the attack against Charlie Hebdo, which occurred on January 7, 2015. Through the works exhibited, “Let’s free the pencils” will highlight the importance of freedom of expression. expression and the role of artists in the defense of fundamental rights.
The official opening, the highlight of the exhibition, will take place on January 7, 2025 – 6 p.m. in the Astrugue room. It will be followed, at 8:30 p.m., by a special evening at the Oustal cinema with a philosophical debate and free screening of the film “God Can Defend Himself”, a poignant feature film tackling the themes of freedom and resistance.
-The screening will be preceded by an animation and followed by a debate moderated by Hervé Monzat, former journalist for La Dépêche du Midi, and Monica Vives, member of the Union Populaire de Philosophie.
This exchange aims to deepen reflections on freedom of expression and the role of the media and artists in contemporary society.
