The Cantonal Harmony held its general assembly on Friday, December 20, under the presidency of Nadège Chaillou and in the presence of Laurent Nivard, president of the Intercommunal Union of the canton of Mirambeau (SICM), Bruno Robert, mayor of Saint-Martial-de- Mirambeau, Maud Maingot, mayor of Soubran, and around fifteen musicians.
By opening the session, the president thanked the three elected officials for their presence, then she recalled that the Harmony had 33 musicians of different ages: the youngest is only 11 years old and the eldest has celebrated his 87th birthday. . This group of musicians, under the baton of Giordano Muto, is gaining notoriety because it is in demand in increasingly remote towns such as Biron, Jonzac (convention center) and even Saint-Émilion. Harmony is present in six municipalities for the official ceremonies of May 8, November 11 and March 19.
Renewal
Despite some departures, following moves or for personal reasons, there are always new talented musicians who come to play every Friday during rehearsals. Some musicians also play in other ensembles such as the Harmonie de l’école des arts, the saxophone and cello ensemble, which brings additional richness to the Cantonal Harmony. Furthermore, Giordano Muto, the conductor, takes his time to train the president in conducting. Finally, the Friday rehearsals, which took place in the Nieul-le-Virouil village hall during the Covid, in order to avoid any rapprochement, returned to the Mirambeau music room.
The treasurer gave a detailed reading of the accounts. The financial balance sheet manages to be balanced thanks to the SICM subsidy and external services. The office is made up of Nadège Chaillou, president; Marie Monnet, secretary; Aurore Thobois, assistant secretary; Gérard Bonneau, treasurer.
