Until Sunday January 5, 2025, enjoy a guided tour that brings to life the greatest heroes of Greek mythology, including the famous Achilles and the Trojan War.
Notice to lovers of epic stories and young explorers: the Musée de la Romanité offers you a fun and captivating dive into the world of mythological heroes! On the occasion of the last days of the temporary exhibition “Achilles and the Trojan War”, which ends on Sunday January 5, 2025, let yourself be guided by Grégoire, a young mediator, for a family adventure full of surprises on the theme : “Heroes of mythology: all the same?”.
Heroes in the light… or almost!
The visit begins in style with Achilles, this hero with the (almost) indestructible heel. Grégoire invites the children to imagine the River Styx, the firm hand of his mother Thetis and, of course, the unforgettable Chiron, this wise and educational centaur. But Achilles isn’t just a heel! The Trojan War, the loss of Patroclus and his own tragic fall remind us that being a hero is not easy.
Then, head to the world of Perseus. Armed with the aegis (shield) offered by Athena, this cunning demigod shows us that strategy is sometimes better than brute force. “How to defeat Medusa without getting petrified?”asks Grégoire. Well, we’re not going to reveal everything… If for the youngest it’s an opportunity to learn stories that we didn’t suspect existed, for the older ones, it’s just as fascinating, and above all : “it allows you to revise”.
Hercules, the star of the 12 labors
Now, head to the mosaic of Bellerophon, a slightly lesser known hero, but just as impressive as his predecessors. There, we learn that, on the back of Pegasus, he faced the Chimera, a monstrous creature (which even Zeus would have preferred to avoid it seems). The opportunity for some parents to discover that their children master mythology better than expected. But beware of pride! Because as Gregory reminds us, taking oneself for a god often leads to a fall (literally, in the case of Bellerophon).
To end in apotheosis, the visit refocuses on Hercules, an essential figure in Greek mythology. Between anecdotes about his famous 12 works and stories of his spectacular exploits, small and large remain hanging on Grégoire’s lips. And if some children still don’t know why Hercules had to kill the Nemean lion or clean the Augean stables, don’t panic: Grégoire is there to explain everything. But hurry, there is only one week left to learn more about these heroes of mythology.
