Some Montcuquois remember the “Montcuq en scène” shows, put on for July 14, for two decades, from 1989 to 2008, at the foot of the tower. It was the choreographer-dancer and director Françoise Lowinsky who was the main organizer of these colorful representations in which all the villagers participated.

The last show, “Amour”, was given in 2008. Of course, July 14, 1989 celebrating the bicentenary of the Revolution left its mark with the participation of Nino Ferrer, costumed and wearing a white wig, at the head of a crowd of Montcuquois, also in period costume, storming the tower!

A call to collect anecdotes and memories

The association “Montcuq yesterday and today”, founded in 2023 by Sébastien Aussaresses, had an idea that immediately appealed to Françoise Lowinsky: bringing together anecdotes and memories linked to these shows, illustrating them with photos of archives held by Sébastien Aussaresses, and make a major exhibition next summer, on the first floor of the Montcuq tower.

A call is therefore launched to all participants of the time, actors, dancers, costume designers, decorators, poster designers, cooks and small hands assigned to serving meals, some of whom left Montcuq, to send their testimonies on these memorable evenings. “To rekindle these flames and rediscover the happiness and joy that we shared,” enthuses Françoise Lowinsky.
