2024 in Aveyron: the Soulages museum celebrated its 10th anniversary in champion mode with a surprise visit to the Stade Toulousain

Ten years since the Soulages museum opened its doors and is one of the pillars of Ruthenian and Aveyron attractiveness.

The year 2024 coincides with the 10th anniversary of the Soulages museum. An anniversary marked during a weekend during which the Orchester du Capitole came to play reflecting Black at La Baleine, vertical dances animated the walls of the museum…

But above all, while the exhibition dedicated to Lucio Fontana was to be inaugurated a little later, “Un futuro c’è stato – There was indeed a future”, this anniversary saw the art world cast a new look at this museum. Mediatically speaking, the Soulages museum in the town of almost had a second inauguration. With, what’s more, no less than 6,000 visitors for the anniversary weekend.

A surprise visit

And the “red and black” cherry on the cake, the museum had a visit, discreet but which did not go unnoticed, by the Stade rugby team, its captain Antoine Dupont in the lead. Everyone was present for a drawing course and a discovery of the museum and the work of Soulages that the Ruthenian painter, who had to choose between rugby and painting, would undoubtedly have appreciated.

This year 2024 is also marked by a fact: it is the last of director Benoît Decron who, in 2025 will hand over to a new director, as was decided during a recent EPCC meeting chaired by Alfred Pacakment.
