the essential
The Ramonville Musical Association welcomed the Reed Trio for an evening rich in musical discoveries, between little-known classical works and vibrant arrangements.
It is an original formation that the Ramonville Musical Association welcomed to Kiwi, following a first festive and dancing concert proposed by Emear Maguy Pradal, as the highlight of the term for the dance classes, of singing and orchestra of the school. The Reed Trio has for several years brought together Jacques Andrieu on clarinet, Dominique Maris on bassoon (former saxophone teacher at Emear) and Anne-Sophie Millet on oboe. With simplicity and an infectious smile, the Reed Trio revealed unusual combinations of sounds through little-known and virtuoso works composed specifically for this formation or arrangements of more famous pieces.
Mozart opening…
The concert opened with the transcription of a Mozart divertimento: the velvety sound of the clarinet first echoed the delicate singing of the oboe, both highlighted by the deep and chiseled punctuations of the bassoon. After a brief “Wordless Romance” by Mendelssohn, the three friends performed five pieces dedicated to their instruments by Jacques Ibert, an eclectic and prolific 20th century Parisian composer. Still in French music, a duet “in the troubadour style” by Lefébure brought out a very nuanced intimate conversation between the clarinet and the bassoon, followed by arrangements of Fauré’s Pavane or the famous suite no. 1 of Carmen de Bizet.
…then Latin America!
The trio then took their audience to a completely different musical universe in Latin America, with a very modern tango from the Argentinian Terraza, then with a lively and very rhythmic piece by Vieira entitled “Truly in the Brazilian tradition”, highlighting the complementarity and the perfect blend of duo sounds. The public responded with great enthusiasm to these latest proposals.
The next AMR concert will be given by the Thaïs ensemble in a program of romantic melodies and popular songs, on Wednesday February 12 at 8 p.m., at the Autan cinema.
