A ride will close its doors at Disneyland Paris. Until summer 2025, a key attraction of the park will be inaccessible to visitors.
For Christmas, many French people relied on the magic of Disneyland Paris to amaze their children during a stay. In 2025, they will no longer be able to count on another amusement park in France, which will close its doors permanently. But while a new themed zone has been announced (after that dedicated to Frozen), the paradise for Mickey lovers and their companions will be saddened to learn that an attraction will be inaccessible for months.
According to a press release, families will have to do without a flagship ride in the Marne-la-Vallée park until next summer. The closure will take place from January 6. You will therefore have to hurry if you wish to board before the fateful date. But for how long will you be deprived of it? And above all, which one is it?

Disneyland Paris is closing an attraction very soon
It is on its website that Disneyland Paris announced on December 24, 2024 that from January 6, its Big Thunder Mountain attraction will close. However, this is not definitive since the mine train should reopen its doors to the public until the summer of 2025. The precise date has not been announced but the objective is the summer season.
Because the reason for this temporary closure is a renovation. The work is a rehabilitation “necessary for regular maintenance” and a way to ensure “the quality of the experience”, while respecting “the original creative vision” and the theme of the area in which it is located: Frontierland (i.e. the Wild West). Wooden elements should be changed and more durable structures should be installed or refurbished. We will also be able to see the arrival of new plants: cacti will be replanted to better evoke the desert landscapes of North America.

The Big Thuder Mountain under construction until next summer
Disneyland Paris specifies that many teams are already “hard at work on this project” to renovate Big Thunder Mountain. Walt Disney Imagineering Paris and Design & Delivery have been preparing the work on the park's emblematic attraction for a year, which will be carried out with the Maintenance and Central Workshops teams. They will rely on archives from 1992, the year the attraction opened.
Other planned changes: “Certain emblematic elements of decor on the mountain, such as the famous Mill Camp tower, and at the queue level will be refurbished”. And animal figures like the goat and the mules will be completely restored for “recover their original shine”. The “craziest hike in the West” will be back soon. Attention fans of the mine train.
