Jyeuhair – pronounced JER for Jason Erwan Rhobinson – was revealed by New school, since July 2024 on Netflix.

If he did not win this competition intended for rappers, he was undoubtedly the most atypical candidate, finishing 3^e after the final won by Youssef Swatt's. Born in Guyana 29 years ago to Malagasy parentsJyeuhair is far from being unknown in the Cotentin… A look back at his journey.

The Cotentin as a springboard

“Jyeuhair, the future of Norman rap”: this was the title of our article from December 5, 2018 dedicated to the big winner of the Cotentin Contemporary Music Tremplin, a month and a half after having already thrilled the public of the space cultural Bush, to Tourlaville (Channel), for the first part of rapper Guizmo.

“The tension remained at its peak with Jyeuhair, whose musical universe is characterized by an original and dazzling flow. His stage performance was pure madness which, encouraged by the audience, could not be stopped. » The young artist had hypnotized more than 200 people.

“This rapper impresses with his artistic mastery. Lyrics, music, videos : this jack-of-all-trades, student at the Beaux-Arts in Caen, leads his young career from A to Z.”

Numerous concerts in La Manche

The Tremplin du Cotentin offers many perspectives for working on its repertoire and its show, and Jyeuhair was able to play several times in La Manche in 2019: March 30 in Coutances; April 5 in Tourlaville opening for Berywam; June 28 at Art'zimutés; July 14 in Heat in the Darkness; August 31 at MusiKenSaire…

When he returned to Buisson in December as a juror, he confided: “At 13, I started to compose inspired by electronic music and US rap.I met musicians who encouraged me to write more interesting, less egocentric lyrics. Thanks to the springboard, I had the chance to do several concerts in Cotentin, I realized that I had a big fan club here. »

The start of 2020 is marked by a new residence in Buisson and the first part of 47Terbut also by the clip of Flowers, science and the gun in which we recognize numerous points of view of Cherbourg and the bay of Ecalgrain. In April 2020, he was selected – among more than 3,500 candidates – among the new talents of Unheard of from the Printemps de Bourges . But the health crisis will slow down its outbreak.

Return to college

We find him in March 2021 for a residency at the college of Saint-Pierre-Église, in partnership with Trident. An inventive, curious, talented and recognized rapper who speaks several times to a class of 4^e“it’s like a breath of fresh air for the students, who are all involved in this project mixing writing, music, singing, bodily expression, etc.,” explains their music teacher, Jean-Christophe Deluen. Jyeuhair transmitted to them impulse, rhythm and phrasing which touch on the art of rap practice.

Videos and a live performance punctuated this beautiful project.

At the beginning of June 2021, while masks are still required, the rapper this time speaks at the college of Sainte-Mère-Église to compose texts on tolerance with around twenty students of 3^e. During this sad period without concerts, Jyeuhair returns to Cherbourg in May for a residency at L’Autre Lieu.

His career explodes with “New School”

At the beginning of July 2024, after three years of offering new titles and clips, Jyeuhair returns to the spotlight… on Netflix! The musical show “New School” aims to find the new rap star, thanks to a jury made up of Aya Nakamura, SDM and SCH.

There are around twenty of them on the starting line for this season 3. Beyond the glory, a check for €100,000 is promised to the winner. With her two braids and her big smile, her elaborate writing and her supercharged flow: Jyeuhair stands out from the crowd from her first performance. “You shocked me… You came very nice but you came to win! », says the successful rapper SDM.

The Caennais is selected among the last 12 nuggets: “You have an identity, you have writing that is not standard, you are an artist”, believes SCH.

Jyeuhair successfully completed the cypher tests (in a group, episode 4) and the duel battle against Damys (episodes 5 and 6). “People see me like a UFO,” he says in his portrait shot in Caen.I feel that through music, I can reach emotions that I can't necessarily talk about. »

In episode 7, he must compose a title on an imposed sample and offer it as a show case to “excite the audience”. Mission accomplished with Peace. “He gave us a slap in the face, he impresses me,” judges Aya Nakamura, seduced.

I really don't know how to put him in difficulty, he shows me in each event that he is really above the rest.

Episode 8 is dedicated to the production of a music video in just three days on a composition, each in their hometown. Here again, Jyeuhair is in the oven and at the mill and does not intend to delegate for his project… The result is incredible in such a short time to illustrate C'est la vie. “ You know how to sing, dance, edit music videos …In your head, how many of you are there? », asks SDM.

Head to the semi-finals for episode 9 and the featurings test. Jyeuhair replaces Kalash to sing a duet with Maureen on the hit Laptop: “I'm going to have to rap in Martinican Creole, a hell of a challenge! “. The public is hooked, the jury too, and his short-lived partner admits: “You blew it, I'm super proud of you. »

Three-way final for the final episode, against Youssef Swatt's and Dadi.They must each create THE hit that will perhaps change their lives, and perform it on stage three days later. Stage coach, beatmakers, dancers… A whole team is put in place to succeed in this challenge.

Although his performance on Thank you commands admiration, Jyeuhair is considered too atypical to be a “hit” when the show comes out and therefore takes 3^e competition place. Fair play and always smilingJyeuhair concludes: “I had a crazy adventure, I met amazing people and I was able to show everything I knew how to do. I am extremely grateful. »

The main thing is elsewhere, because as SDM says: “You have everything you need to be great and I know you will succeed. We will follow you closely! »

The Olympia announced in “Quotidien”

“The album is so good! » The compliment comes from Yann Barthès who invited Jyeuhair on November 29 in Dailyon TMC. It was the same day the For Mylnwhich brings together ten titles. A rich and varied musical experience mixing nervous rhythms and powerful bass, combined with both pop and rap sounds.

Talking about his childhood, he confides: “At middle school, I felt a little rejected and as a result I isolated myself a little and decided to retreat into creation. I was described as a bit weird, gothic. »

And on his love for rap: “I really have this relationship with rhythm and the luxury of being able to choose the words, transform them, structure them and hope that people understand me all the same (laughs) ! »

The 2025 tour promises to be grandiose: places for The Cicada were sold in an hour and those for Leather goods in 5 minutes! “I think a date has just been added?L’OlympiaOctober 29, 2025, quite simply! », reveals Yann Barthès.

In the meantime, on February 7, 2025, he will be back in the lair of the Buisson cultural space. Where it all began.
