In 2011, the strange car parked in the square of the neighboring village of Baccarat did not go unnoticed. By his look already. The Travertson V Rex custom motorcycle stands out and impresses. Then by its owner: the car belonged to Johnny Hallyday. Or rather Jean-Philippe Smet, his real name, the surname being calligraphed on the motorcycle, accompanied by “Born on the street” in red letters.
But how on earth did the singer's road bike, with 191 miles on the clock (307 km), traveled on the main avenues of Los Angeles, end up parked in Fontenoy-la-Joûte?
She was the subject of a competition organized by Marc Ways, 61, a resident of the village. The man with an unusual background got the star to donate his motorcycle so that the winnings obtained could be donated to humanitarian aid organizations.
“As part of an evening, I had the opportunity to make friends with several members of Johnny Hallyday's close entourage,” explained Marc Ways in our columns. Little by little the idea germinated, until Johnny finally gave us his agreement. It took two years of procedures”
The singer even said a little word to validate the approach.
For 14 euros, players had access to around ten questions relating to rock, motorbikes… and Johnny. The second phase, in the form of a start at a specific time, consisted of answering two questions online. Enough to attract fans of motorcycles and youth idols. A cult object but not easy to drive: “In my opinion, it is ideal for driving on the long straights in the United States,” confided Marc Ways.
