Where to celebrate December 31 in Geneva? Among the different options, the City is organizing its traditional big free party on the quays to mark the transition to the new year.

For the event, the poster for the evening was entrusted to the designer Zep which features Titeuf and Nadia at the edge of the lake facing acrobatic swans announcing the arrival of 2025.

The designer ZEP, Christina Kitsos, mayor of the City of Geneva, and Antoine Frammery, artistic director and programmer of New Year's Eve at the water's edge.

Tuesday, December 31, from 8 p.m. to 3 a.m., music will be at the center of the festivities. The large stage located opposite Baby-Plage will be dedicated to live concerts, with artists, the vast majority of whom are female and particularly committed, such as Royale Canine, Mibsy and even Nathalie Froelich. An assumed choice: “They express free speech and the struggles of today’s very committed youth,” explains Antoine Frammery, in charge of programming the event.

“Every year there is a sort of competition between Lausanne and Geneva to know which city will bring together young people for the 31st. So to be sure to bring everyone to Geneva, I took the star rapper from Lausanne: La Gale” , he adds with humor.

New this year, a disco fair zone will link the two scenes. With karaoke, youth hits and a revisited funfair, this space will offer an intergenerational experience. “The festival has the power to unite people, to allow them to draw strength, courage and joy,” underlines Christina Kitsos, mayor of Geneva.

Traffic disrupted

The highlight of the evening will be the traditional fireworks display, offered by the Fairmont Grand Hôtel Geneva. Preceded by the countdown given on the electro scene by Christina Kitsos. This fireworks show will light up the harbor to welcome 2025.

As for drinks, three bars run by the cultural associations Kalvingrad and Bongo Joe will be responsible for quenching the partygoers’ thirst, and water points will be installed to keep ideas fresh. To eat, 16 food trucks will offer a variety of dishes.

This major event will not be without consequences on traffic in the city. Several major routes will be severely disrupted and/or closed to traffic. The Gustave-Ador quay will be closed to automobile traffic from 6 p.m. on December 31 to 5 a.m. on the 1st.is January. In addition, traffic will be interrupted on the Mont-Blanc bridge and quay as well as on Quai Wilson between 10 p.m. and 1 a.m.

Solidarity Eve

At the same time, the City will organize Solidarity Eve at the Plainpalais community hall. Intended for more than 600 isolated or vulnerable people, this event will offer a festive meal, entertainment, as well as a space for children aged 4 to 10.
