The singer, who concluded a 131-date tour Saturday evening in Deauville (Calvados), spoke about this new project at Parisian for the occasion.
Renaud's next album is taking shape. The 72-year-old singer, who closed a 131-date tour on Saturday, December 21 in Deauville (Calvados), spoke to Le Parisien for the occasion about this new project. “I would like to publish it at the beginning of 2026,” declared the artist, who had previously mentioned a new album for 2025. He also gave some information on what this record will look like, for which he is surrounding himself with the young generation:
“I asked for music from Noé Preszow, Gauvain Sers, Benoît Dorémus…” he announced.
Before continuing: “I wrote a text on George Floyd (whose murder by a police officer, in 2020 in Minnesota, gave rise to the resurgence of the Black Lives Matter movement, Editor's note), one for my daughter, one for my son.”
“Lack of inspiration”
This future disc will be recorded “with the violins, the piano and the accordion” who accompanied him on the tour he has just completed, entitled In my ropes. And the singer does not hide his difficulties in developing this new CD: “I'm working on it, but I'm having a little trouble, it's difficult to release. Lack of inspiration. It will be my 17th album!”
As much as he admits, his voice is no longer the same. Not enough to put off the public, as evidenced by the emotion reported by Le Parisien on this last date. “The people support it. They sing with me,” explained Renaud. “I rehearse before all my concerts, between six and ten songs. And despite everything, it’s quite difficult. But hey, I’m getting there.”
“I smoke one cigarette a month”
Because on the health side, the singer sticks to his progress: “I gave up alcohol three and a half years ago and cigarettes a year and nine months ago. I smoke one cigarette a month. The next , it's January 10th.”
Next year will be busy for the singer, who will celebrate his 50th career: “There will be a book, a documentary by Tancrède Ramonet, a big concert… We will have a party at the Francofolies in La Rochelle.”
