After the dancers last week, the reception staff and technicians stopped work.

Rebelotte: here are the representations of Rigoletto and of Play canceled this Thursday evening and the Palais Garnier closed to visits since this morning. At issue is the strike notice filed by SUD. Some of the opera staff followed, in particular the reception staff who were not there this morning to welcome visitors to the Palais Garnier and the technicians, absent on the Bastille and Garnier sets to set up the sets. This notice is filed until December 31.

Last week it was the dancers who went on strike, at the call of the CGT, canceling five performances, leading to a net loss of ticket sales of 1.2 million euros. The dancers wanted their preparation time to be taken into account in their remuneration. They canceled the performances from December 5 to 10 and lifted their notice last Thursday without the question being resolved: it is simply postponed. SUD’s demands relate to the employment ceiling and the increase in staff numbers for all staff at the Opera.

Faced with all these strikes, Martin Ajdari, number 2 in the house, leads the negotiations alongside his director, Alexander Neef. But Ajdari is leaving. He has just passed hearings before the National Assembly and the Senate on December 17 and 18 to take over as head of ARCOM.

At the Palais Garnier, the ballet was to dance this evening Playby Alexander Ekman as part of an evening for large companies and major patrons. An aggravating circumstance for the house which must rely largely on patronage: ticket revenue represents 78 million euros for a budget of 248 million euros and a subsidy of 100 million euros, and 25 million sponsorship euros. Last week, the dancers performed the performance of Play for the benefit of Paprec, main patron of the ballet.
