After the announcement of the end of the Popcorn show “in weekly form”, Théo Kleman, the producer of the talk show, explained that there was “no problem with Webedia”. The show was not stopped for financial reasons either, he assures.
The announcement surprised fans. This Tuesday, December 17, Popcorn, the show presented by the streamer Domingo and broadcast every Tuesday ends “in its weekly form”.
The announcement was made by Florent Derue, producer of the talk show on X, ex-Twitter. “After 6 seasons and more than 500 hours of live, the show will no longer be in weekly format. At the start of this adventure, I was far from imagining that this set would see artists that I admired parade and fill entire performance halls,” he explains.
A decision taken internally
And the message did not fail to provoke a reaction on social networks. “Thank you for all the guys, really. Incredible years thanks to you, every Tuesday, it was more than a meeting, it had become a custom,” says a user. “Do an explanatory live tomorrow. We want the truth about this announcement,” asks another.
Faced with numerous comments, Théo Kleman, also producer of the show, returned to the reasons for stopping the weekly format of Popcorn.
“No problems with Webedia. The decision was taken between PA [Domingo, ndlr] and me after careful consideration. It is also our decision to communicate in this way,” he explains.
He assures that Webedia has not decided to stop producing Popcorn for financial reasons, the show being “profitable”. Indeed, according to Webediathe show has “more than 300,000 live views per week, but also in replay, with 2.5 million cumulative views on average per show on YouTube this season.” The talk show also attracts many sponsors.
“We will continue to produce Popcorn with Webedia in the future, if the show is where it is today it is also thanks to them,” he concludes. Information already confirmed the day before by his colleague Florent Derue. “The show will return. The Popcorn adventure is far from over,” he explained.
