(Agence Ecofin) – The cinema sector in Senegal is growing. While the sector is emerging on the continent, particularly with the rise of series, the country wants to create a generation of qualified professionals to support this dynamic.

The International School of Actors-Actresses of Dakar (EIAD), a training and professionalization project for actors and actresses in Senegal, has launched a call for applications to constitute its second cohort of learners for its continuing education program . This program targets actors, production managers, acting directors, artistic agents and casting directors.

Applicants must be professionals with experience in the chosen profession.

Thanks to the support of the French Embassy in Senegal, the training is free. They are divided into sessions covering themes such as acting and interpretation techniques, acting in front of the camera, dramaturgy and cinematographic culture, dubbing, preparing a casting, creating short films, body of the actor and the law of author and related contracts.

Participants will also benefit from support from national and international experts as well as access to a network of professionals.

This EIAD program aims to structure the film sector and bring out a new generation of professionals in the sector in Senegal. These objectives are part of the dynamics of this sector in the West African country, marked by the growth of Senegalese series since 2019.

The call for applications is open until January 3, 2025.
