Members of the Union of Hoteliers, Landlords and Restaurateurs are protesting against an increase deemed abusive in water costs.
During the general meeting of the Union of Hoteliers, Landlords and Restaurateurs, members expressed their dissatisfaction with the Water Union. They indeed raised the problem of high bills for water managed by the Armagnac Territory Water Union (Seta). Isabelle Tintané reminded the audience of article 7 of the SETA and whose general regulations were accepted by a majority. This specifies: “The number of subscriptions is set at one subscription per consumption point (owner or tenant other than seasonal. Special case for rentals other than permanent such as collective buildings, residences, lodges, campsites, etc.) The share fixed will be multiplied by 2/3 of the number of accommodations or businesses and 1/3 of the number of pitches for camping. Isabelle Tintané recalled that it was completely legal, and that in fact this article 7 led to a strong increase. Isabelle Tintané, before concluding this first intervention, recalled that this new calculation is authorized by article L2224-12-4 of the local authorities code, then she clarified: “On seasonal residences which only have a physical meter of water, before they paid a fixed fee and since 2023 the fixed fee is multiplied by 2/3 of the number of housing units. We asked SETA to reconsider this deliberation, obviously it refused.
Members of the Union of Hoteliers, Landlords and Restaurateurs then took the floor to express their dissatisfaction and the significant financial cost of this increase: “In the already complicated economic context, this increase is suffocating us. A solution must be found quickly more advantageous before other establishments are forced to close their doors. Some will no longer be able to hold on financially.” Hoteliers, restaurateurs and landlords have each made the decision, each on their own, to contact their legal advisor, others have already done so and their lawyers are mobilizing. Isabelle Tintané concluded by specifying that if Seta did not reverse its decision, she would consider and take new steps by finding a more advantageous solution.
