In the 1980s, the host, who has just celebrated his 95th birthday, did not appreciate his name being present on the show posters of young comedians.
Didier Bourdon It's always bad. Nearly forty years later, the actor has clearly not digested the trial that Philippe Bouvard brought to the Unknowns. At the beginning of the 1980s, Didier Bourdon, Pascal Légitimus and Bernard Campan took their first steps on television in “Le Théâtre de Bouvard” on Antenne 2. The program offers sketches played by different actors every day. The trio takes the stage with Smaïn and Seymour Brussel. In 1984, Les Cinq decided to leave the show and Smaïn left the band some time later.
Building on their little notoriety, the four remaining comedians, forming Les Car Car and co, met producer Paul Lederman. As they prepare to play their new show, Philippe Bouvard does not appreciate seeing his name written on their posters nor seeing the name Les Cinq used, considering that it belongs to his show. He decides to take them to court. “It's not honest for a 55-year-old man, well established in the media, to blame us after two years at the “Théâtre de Bouvard” because we decided to become independent. He rotted us, promised to make us miserable”lamented Didier Bourdon in the columns of La Tribune Sunday .
“At the time, we were known as Les Cinq, with Smaïn and Seymour Brussel. We began to perform in small venues, and the four organizers took advantage of our notoriety, without informing us, to add under the posters stuck in the streets “Seen at the Théâtre de Bouvard”. Which took the opportunity to sue us, considering its name and its program used and usurped. Then justice ruled in his favor.”added the actor, still bitter.

The quartet then decides to use this disappointment to rename themselves. “Thus were born The Unknowns . This is why I still blame Bouvard, even if I hesitated to call him after hearing him on the radio. He's not really in good shape…”he concluded.
