Back to the future. For years, Marvel has been developing at great speed in the cinema. But with Avengers : Doomsdaythe successful franchise seems to mark a new boost in this infernal dynamic of change – particularly in the roles – but by returning to the initial recipe. 20 Minutes tells you more about an “Avengers” which should delight many more fans around the world.
Chris Evans is back
The name Chris Evans seems to be forever associated with Marvel. The 43-year-old American actor will be part of the adventure Avengers : Doomsdaywhose theatrical release is scheduled for April 29, 2026, ensures Deadline. But in what role? The situation could well be, once again, turned upside down.
For now, the role of the former Captain America has not yet been clarified either by the franchise, or by the brothers Anthony and Joe Russo, who will be behind the camera. Chris Evans made his last appearance in Avengers : Endgamein the guise of octogenarian Steve Rogers (a role he played between 2011 and 2019).
A few weeks ago, in theaters, the handsome Chris played the Human Torch, a character he had played in Fantastic Fourin the 2000s. One thing is certain, Evans will not wear the Captain America costume.
Anthony Mackie guards Captain…
From now on, the new Captain America is named Anthony Mackie. We can also follow his new adventures in Captain America : Brave New World in theaters on February 12, 2025. Anthony Mackie will also reprise his role as Captain America in Avengers : Doomsday. Therefore, seeing Chris Evans re-incarnate Steve Rogers could be an avenue, just to put two Captain Americas on screen. It would slam!
Another return to the past, the ex-mythical Iron Man, Robert Downey Jr, will also be in the cast of Avengers : Doomsday. He will play the role of the antagonist Dr. Doom. Sebastian Stan, aka Bucky Barnes, will also be there, as will the new Fantastic Four (Pedro Pascal, Joseph Quinn, Vanessa Kirby and Ebon Moss-Bachrach).
Sixty superheroes together, including Deadpool?
In all, no less than sixty superheroes and superheroines are expected in Avengers : Doomsday. And, among them, Deadpool? Recently, actor Ryan Reynolds assured that the future of Deadpool would be pprobably that of a secondary character… in another film. There is no doubt that the Russo brothers would be well inspired to integrate this superhero, after the last hit at the cinema of Deadpool & Wolverine. With $1.3 billion earned at the box office, the film simply became the most profitable in history. One thing is certain, Marvel has the superpower to combine very well with the past, and even better with the future.
