There is no better showcase than a world-famous star to promote independent cinema. This Monday, December 2, the posh Cipriani restaurant, located on the 2nd floor of a sumptuous building on Wall Street, opened its doors to the Hollywood elite.

This swarm of celebrities didn't come to enjoy arancini or agnolotti at random. That evening the annual Gotham Awards were held, recognizing the best independent films of the year. Zendaya, Angelina Jolie, Nicole Kidman, Demi Moore… The endless list of guests who appeared at this event has nothing to be ashamed of compared to the Venice Film Festival or the Film Festival.

Some tributes were also paid, notably to Denis Villeneuve for the second chapter of “Dune”, to Zendaya for her role in “Challengers”, and to Angelina Jolie for her interpretation of Maria Callas in the biopic “Maria” by Jessica Palud.

Following this ceremony punctuated by applause and speeches of thanks, the guests took turns taking their seats on the lush Gotham Awards photocall. Elle Fanning arrived draped in a Dior dress with blue highlights, not far from Demi Moore dressed by the same designer, or Nicole Kidman and her vintage floral piece by Dolce Gabbana.
