“The festival, dedicated to contemporary classical Music, will be called Supernature Breizh. Supernature, like the song by Marc Cerrone (pillar of disco in France, Editor’s note),” announces Aurélien Richard, one of the organizers of the brand new festival, which will take place at the beginning of June 2025 in the countries of Concarneau and Fouesnant. To unite around contemporary classical music, often confined to the initiated, the Melgvinois decided, with the lyrical singer Roxane Charlard, to break the codes of the industry. “The concerts will take place in heritage places, natural or built. On the beach, in a small chapel or at the foot of a lighthouse,” explains Roxane Chalard, who settled in Trégunc four years ago. Like the Cap Danse contemporary dance festival, Supernature Breizh is betting on the outdoors, “but with fallback solutions in the event of rain”.
Preludes dedicated to Beyoncé
The scene is set, the content will amaze you. “Saturday June 8, I will play preludes on the piano with the Rospordin violinist Caroline Chardonnet-Méniel, on a beach in the country of Concarneau (the exact location remains to be confirmed, Editor’s note). Within this repertoire, I will infiltrate preludes dedicated to the music of Beyoncé. I rework them in my own way,” laughs Aurélien Richard. After the concert, it’s time for Beyoncé’s hip swing. “We will invite the public to go dancing with Stan Briche, a choreographer who offers a workshop based on the choreographies of the American singer’s music videos,” he continues.
The idea is to mix audiences and encourage meetings. The festive and participatory side is a hit with spectators.
“If you don’t feel like dancing, you can just watch and enjoy the moment. The idea is to mix audiences and encourage meetings. The festive and participatory side is a hit with spectators,” assures the musician who is not at his first attempt. He has already tested the – winning – formula at the other Supernature festival that he has been running for four years, in Normandy, between Le Havre, Rouen and Dieppe.
A composer crowned with a Classical Music Victory
“We also want to develop the concept of musical hiking with Samuel Bricault. He plays all the flutes in the world: Indian, Irish, baroque or piccolo. The idea is to walk alongside him, with musical breaks. The associated composer, Florentine Mulsant, will also be present during the walk. In 2024, she won the Victoire de la Musique Classique, in the composer of the year category,” says the organizer.
“Even if the programming and locations of the concerts remain to be finalized, our project is well advanced. We met many local stakeholders, including elected officials and private partners. The restaurant La Coquille, in Concarneau, is our first private sponsor. We will organize an evening there, Friday June 6, entitled “Aperitif opera: opera takes off”. I will perform, alongside Aurélien, great opera arias,” announces Roxane Chalard.
“We invite all those who are exalted by contemporary classical music to join us. We are looking for volunteers in logistics but also to relay to the public,” concludes Aurélien Richard.
