Rock star Rod Stewart will perform at the Glastonbury music festival in June, in the southwest of England, organizers announced on Tuesday, who are due to unveil their program soon.
The interpreter of Maggie May or Sailingaged 79, will occupy the coveted Sunday slot at “tea time”, specified the same source.
“After all these years, I am proud, ready and more than capable of getting back on stage to please and tease my friends at Glastonbury,” the British star wrote on social media.
He will follow in the footsteps of other music legends who have also performed in this niche, including Dolly Parton, Kylie Minogue, Lionel Richie and Shania Twain during the last edition.
This news comes a few days after the star announced his intention to stop “major world tours” at the end of 2025. Rod Stewart, however, clarified that he had no desire to retire.
The raspy-voiced rocker had already headlined the festival in 2002, alongside Coldplay and Stereophonics. At that time, he performed at the closing of the prestigious event.
The festival, which started in 1970, will take place from June 25 to 29 before taking a break in 2026 to let the soil of Worthy Farm, where the event takes place, rest.
On sale in mid-November, tickets for the 2025 edition sold out in 35 minutes. Sesame Cost: 373.50 pounds sterling (663.65 Canadian dollars) for a ticket and 5 pounds (8.88 CAD) for the reservation fee.
Last June, around 210,000 people attended the event, which included performances by Coldplay, Dua Lipa and SZA on the legendary Pyramid Stage.
