Princess Charlene in Alexander McQueen to present the World Rugby Awards
The World Rugby Awards returned to Sporting Monte-Carlo this Sunday. For this evening, Princess Charlene wore a black Alexander McQueen dress with an exposed sequin corset, also by Alexander McQueen. The wife of Prince Albert II took to the stage of the Salle des Étoiles to present the trophy for the best rugby sevens player to Australian Maddison Levi. Princess Charlène then crowned Antoine Dupont the best rugby sevens player in the world.
The 28-year-old French player, who plays at Stade Toulouse outside of his national team appearances, was part of the selection which allowed France to win the gold medal at the Olympic Games this summer. In 2021, Antoine Dupont had already won this same award for best player in the world at the World Rugby Awards but he was then playing in the rugby 15s category.
“I never dreamed of being the best player in the world when I was little”declared the champion, as relayed by Rugby365. “It wasn’t something that motivated me more than that. I dreamed of winning Brennus, Six Nations and World Cups. But it’s true that once you manage to have this distinction, it’s still extremely rewarding. It's an incredible source of pride to say that we can put words to it, but it's never been a life goal. »
