When will we see actor Hugh Grant back in the movies? We take a look at the British star’s plans.

Hugh Grant, 63, recently shone as Oompa Loompa in Wonka, released in December 2023. The film starring Timothée Chalamet was a success, collecting $632 million at the worldwide box office. The man who received an honorary César in 2006 also recently starred in Knives Out 2 and Dungeons & Dragons: The Honor of Thieves.

Star of romantic comedies such as Four Weddings and a Funeral, Love at First Sight in Notting Hill or Love Actually, Hugh Grant remains one of the international actors most appreciated by the general public. When will we see it again on the big screen? We take stock!

Bridget Jones 4

Last April, we learned that the Bridget Jones saga was going to return to the cinema with a 4th episode, Mad About the Boy. Renée Zellweger, Hugh Grant and Emma Thompson will return to the roles of Bridget Jones, Daniel Cleaver and Dr. Rawlings. The film will be directed by Michael Morris, who succeeds Sharon Maguire and Beeban Kidron.

Newcomers to the franchise universe will also make an appearance: Chiwetel Ejiofor and Leo Woodall. The title of this 4th iteration of the cult franchise will be Mad About The Boy. The plot should therefore follow that of the novel of the same name, published in 2013.

In Bridget Jones’s Baby, the story was not adapted from a story written by the original author, Helen Fielding. Hugh Grant did not appear in it but was mentioned. At the end of the film, we learned that the character Daniel, who was supposed to have died in a plane crash at the beginning of the story, was found alive.

Aficionados of the saga who have not read the novels will then ask themselves the following question: why is Colin Firth, alias Mark Darcy, not announced in the casting of this 4th opus? This is completely normal if filmmaker Michael Morris adapts Mad About The Boy.

In the book, Mark has died and Bridget, now 53, is a widow. She is therefore a single mother of her two children, William and Mabel. Encouraged by her friends, Bridget loses weight and registers on dating sites.

Little by little, the heroine regains confidence in herself and begins a romantic relationship with Roxster (Leo Woodall), a young man of 29 years old. His morale then skyrockets. But is such a relationship sustainable? Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy should arrive in cinemas on Valentine’s Day 2025.

Heretic

On December 4, 2024, Hugh Grand will be back in theaters for a horror feature film: Heretic.

Directed by Scott Beck and Bryan Woods, the film will follow pious young women who find themselves trapped in the home of an eccentric man. Hugh Grant will star opposite Chloe East, seen in The Fabelmans, and Sophie Thatcher, who appeared in The Book of Boba Fett and The Bogeyman.
