While he said he was “very meaty”, Petit Biscuit became vegan in 2020. Interviewed by Juju Fitcats in his show “Balance ton frigo”, on YouTube, the 25-year-old DJ opened his refrigerator filled with fruit, vegetables and mushrooms, and explained to him how he decided one day to no longer consume foods of animal origin. “I took a trip to Iceland. I met a fisherman in a village who took me fishing. When he asked me to gut the fish, I couldn’t do it. I then told myself that this would be the last fish I was going to eat.” Mehdi Benjelloun, his real name, added that if he was not capable of killing an animal, he did not consider it legitimate to eat it.
The Franco-Moroccan, who built an athletic body thanks to fitness, also explained that he had no deficiencies, contrary to popular belief about veganism. The plant proteins he consumes every day do him the greatest good. “I found my account and my pleasure, I discovered a lot of things. Becoming vegan was a good step because I learned a lot, I became better at nutrition. I saw physical and aesthetic progress. It didn’t slow down my muscular progress at all.”
The Frenchman, however, admitted that you need to know how to supplement yourself when you are vegan. “But even people who are omnivores also need to supplement, because there is a concern for micronutrient richness with modern diets.” And Juju Fitcats confirms his statements by adding that everything has been “industrialized and hyper-processed” so that the foods have “as much taste as possible” rather than focusing on their nutritional content.
By being vegan, Petit Biscuit is also proud to reduce its environmental impact. Tibo’s friend InShape recalled that according to a study by the Climate Action Network and the French Nutrition Society, if everyone reduced their meat consumption by half, this would make it possible to achieve the climate objectives set for France.
