the essential
The Firmin Bouisset space traces the history and work of this visionary poster artist, originally from Moissac.

The Little Schoolboy from LU, the little girl from Menier chocolate, Pierrot de Poulain: are these icons familiar to you? But did you know that they were all created by one person? This is Firmin Bouisset, one of the pioneers of modern advertising.

Since July 2021, this visionary poster designer now has his own space. If he was born in Moissac, it is in Castelsarrasin, a few kilometers from his hometown, that you will have to go to admire his works. The museum is in fact located in a small pink brick mansion, called the “Maison d’Espagne”.

10 years of work and more than 450 works collected

The opening of this space is a long-term work of enthusiasts who, for more than 10 years, fought to have the major place of Firmin Bouisset recognized in the history of the arts and advertising and to install it on the territory that was his.

“A significant fund has been created and brings together more than 450 works, exhibitions have been set up, a biographical book has been published,” emphasize the creators of the place.

They have thus succeeded in “installing a Firmin Bouisset space in the department, making it possible to create around the artist’s works a real center of cultural, educational, touristic and economic animation and development.”

Over two floors, more than a hundred of the most emblematic works of this poster painter invite you on a journey to the heart of this beautiful era when advertising art blossomed.

Posters, engravings, children’s books, advertising objects, multimedia documents are presented in this space. They constitute a true scenographic account of Bouisset’s work.

This set is aimed at all audiences and recounts both the multifaceted talent of its creator and the abundant and romantic era in which it takes place.
