A renewed agreement to support the Visions du festival

The State of Vaud, the City of Nyon and the Region of Nyon have established a new subsidy agreement in favour of the Nyon festival for the period 2024-2027, after having drawn a very positive assessment of the previous four-year agreement. The Visions du Réel Foundation will thus be able to continue to maintain and develop this event which has taken on an unprecedented scale: in recent years, it has become one of the four major references for real-life cinema at the European level, recognised worldwide, while considerably strengthening its local roots. This agreement guarantees the pursuit of objectives set by the foundation, such as improving working conditions for staff, developing cultural participation, improving infrastructure or strengthening the pan Industry, namely the professional market around documentary film, which is a crucial issue for the festival’s reputation.

The subsidies for the period 2024-2027 will amount to 850,000 francs per year, i.e. 340,000 francs for the State of Vaud (previously 320,000 francs), 460,000 francs for the City of Nyon (previously 400,000 francs) and 50,000 francs for the Region of Nyon. The subsidies are guaranteed subject to the legal and budgetary attributions of the competent authorities.

Just like the one concluded in 2023 with the far° festival and the factory of living arts, this agreement is part of the policy led by the City of Nyon and the Region of Nyon aimed at promoting a quality cultural offering, supporting artistic creation and the emergence of new talents, making culture accessible to all by encouraging public participation, as well as developing responsible cultural practices that are attentive to societal issues. For the State of Vaud, it is a question of sustainably supporting events of supra-cantonal importance that have proven themselves artistically and with the public.

The signatories of this agreement are Nuria Gorrite, State Councilor responsible for culture, Frédéric Mani and Boris Mury, President and Secretary General of the Nyon Region, Daniel Rossellat and Pierre-François Umiglia, Syndic and Municipal Secretary of the City of Nyon, and finally, for the Visions du Réel Foundation, Raymond Loretan, President, Emilie Bujès, Artistic Director, and Mélanie Courvoisier, Administrative and Operational Director.
