Until November 23, 2024, Te Fare Tauhiti Nui – Maison de la culture invites the public to discover the exhibition of the biennial exhibition by Stéphane Motard and Eric Raffis. For lovers of beautiful stones and beautiful photos.
People attracted by aesthetics will be delighted if they go to the exhibition by sculptor Stéphane Motard and photographer Eric Raffis. Each in their own way sublimates reality.
For the first, it’s the material. For the second, light.
“The revelation of our universe is born from the encounter, the primordial symbiosis between matter and light… Since 2020, the sculptor Stéphane Motard and the photographer Eric Raffis have invited us to explore this theme with them, during their biennial exhibition at the Muriāvai room of the House of Culture.
This year, Stéphane Motard continues his work, “another look” at Polynesian culture by inviting us to discover its “Fairies” and its “Resurgences” through the revealed material.
Shaped in direct carving in the phonolite (volcanic magmatic rock) of the different Society Islands, revealing their sometimes unexpected attractions, the finely polished sculptures, balanced on wooden or steel bases, are discovered in a game of shadow and light.
For this 3rd edition, Eric Raffis, who, through his photographs always taken with the natural light of Tahiti, reveals his new contemplations and meditations as a new dreamlike journey into the Polynesian night which, in turn, through attitudes, gestures, objects, or even natural elements, find beauty, where light transcends matter, where matter transcends light.
The exhibition is open until November 23, 2024, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday to Friday. From 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday.
