Music: the Jeunes en Scène springboard, in Brest, wishes to “highlight as many young people as possible”

“It’s the project of my daughter Romane, who wanted to release an album at 13 years old without having the required age to participate in a springboard,” says Magali Quenaon, president of Pass’Musique, the organizing association of the springboard, “ This is why she wanted to create a springboard for the youngest.”

The ninth edition of the Jeunes en Scène springboard is open to Breton musicians and singers aged 13 to 23, soloists or in groups, and of all musical styles. Its success has continued since its first edition. It allows even the youngest to express themselves and practice their passion, when most of the other existing springboards are only open to older people. Magali Quenaon affirms it by paraphrasing Corneille, “talent does not wait for the number of years”. For those interested, registrations are free and open until December 31, 2024, without pre-selection.

Auditions with “an educational side”

Scheduled for Saturday February 8 and Sunday February 9, 2025 at the Open Campus, the auditions are a highlight of the springboard, with an “important educational side”, for Magali Quenaon. They allow participants to take the time to interact with the members of the jury, which this year will be composed of Yann Gueguen, from P’tit Ouestival (Plougonvelin), from Thierry Guillo, programmer from Festidreuz (Fouesnant), from Olivier Cauchon. , general director of Diogene Productions, musician and producer Banbz, and David Pistol, rapper from Brest.

After the auditions, the six finalists will be offered “a post-production day to help with their professionalization”, explains Elena Meuner, in charge of production at the Pass’Musique association, addressing themes linked to artist contracts, to stage expression or even stress management. The finalists will be decided during an evening on the stage of Cabaret Vauban, in Brest, in April 2025.

Participants will be part of the “springboard family”

The winners of the Jeunes en Scène springboard will have the opportunity to perform on the partner stages of Festidreuz, P’tit Ouestival, Ribamboules (Saint-Pabu), but also the Fêtes de la musique de Brest or Relecq-Kerhuon. Not all participants will be winners, but all will join “the springboard family”, as Elena Meuner likes to call it. “They will be followed in the same way and that is what makes the DNA of the springboard,” she affirms, specifying that other festival dates, or during matches at the Arena, could for example be offered to them.
