Eve Gilles reacts to sexist criticism of Miss France

In a few months, Ève Gilles will give up her place to the winner of the title of Miss France 2025. The famous French beauty pageant will be held on Saturday, December 14, 2024 at the Arena Futuroscope, as announced by the organizing committee in a press release on September 10, 2024. In the meantime, the current Miss France, Ève Gilles, recently answered questions from the media Brut in an interview given on Thursday, September 12, 2024. During this exchange, she was notably asked about the sexist perception that some have of the competition. Faced with this question, she did not hesitate to react strongly: “For me, those who say that Miss France is against feminism know nothing about it and do not want to know anything about it.” According to her, the competition highlights women in a positive way. “There is nothing more feminist than this competition,” she said. Eve Gilles said the show offered participants a platform to “express themselves” and “share their values.” “It’s an incredible springboard in a woman’s life,” she said.

To illustrate her point, she gave her own background as an example: “In my little campaign, who would have listened to me? I had 400 followers on social media.” She said that today, with an audience of 400,000 followers, each of her statements attracts attention. “As soon as I say something, it’s taken, amplified, distorted, but at least it’s talked about.
