L’Academy of Caesar, unveiled on Wednesday November 13 the list of revelations for the next edition, which will take place next February. Among the 16 candidates competing for boys, to succeed Raphaël Quenardthe winner of the 2024 edition, two Corsicans Louis Memmi the actor of “Borgo” (inspired by the affair of the double assassination at Poretta airport), released in theaters on April 17 and Hamza Meziani for “Six Feet on Earth” directed by Karim Bensalah released on June 19, 2024, and also screened this Wednesday, November 13 at the Cinematheque of Corsica in Porto-Vecchio.
The first, 23 years old, grew up in Corte. The second, 31 years old, discovered in 2013 in the Apaches of Thierry de Peretti(presented at the Directors' Fortnight in Cannes) in Porto-Vecchio.
A first round before the final nominations
Two preselections which demonstrate the talent of island actors and the recognition of professionals in the film industry. Already in 2023, a Corsican actor, Aurélien Gabrielli had been pre-selected among the revelations of the year at the César Academy for his performance in “The World After Us”.
Hamza and Louis will compete in the Male Revelation category (formerly called “Espoirs” until the 2024 Césars) for the first round of César voting. Following this first round, there will be only five of the girls and five of the boys to be named on January 20 in the last four of the selected and to be able to claim the precious trophy.
The 50th César ceremony will take place on February 28, 2025 at the Olympia in Paris and will be chaired by Catherine Deneuve, the icon of French cinema.
