Maurane Leder, young painter, hosted on the farm of Emmanuel Fourcat in the hamlet of Fieux, for several summer months. She also met other farmers, shared their daily life, exchanged ideas, observed, and then reproduced in oil painting, with great sensitivity and subtlety, scenes of rural life “Across the Fields”.
Maurane was born in the nearby Cantal. After studying Fine Arts in Toulouse, graduating in 2022 from the Toulouse Higher Institute of Arts and Design, she exhibited her works in various museums. It is also in 2022 that the Maison des Arts Georges et Claude Pompidou in Cajarc, in partnership with the agricultural cooperative Les Fermes de Figeac, has planned an artists’ residency in an agricultural environment, in Ségala Lotois. The goal: to discover and promote the work of operators, bringing together town hall and official organizations. Mission accomplished in every way, since Maurane created ten paintings representing: dawn with calves, the vegetable garden being sown, bales of hay, a nap, a raspberry on the hand, a blade of grass , a meadow with the peasant, the father and the son in a diptych, hunting dogs. These paintings were exhibited this Friday, November 8 in the evening in a barn at a place called Les Teulières, loaned free of charge by the owners. Around a hundred people came to discover this exhibition, in the presence of representatives of Fermes de Figeac, the MAGCP and state services as well as elected officials and, of course, Emmanuel Fourcat and Maurane Leder. This exhibition, still open this weekend of November 16 and 17 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. (free entry), will receive various school groups and will be presented at the Cajarc museum in 2025.
This project was co-financed by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development with the support of Drac Occitanie.
