Through “The showcases of creation”, ten creators exhibit a work in ten boutiques around Place Saint-Georges. Will you be able to spot their works of art among the items on sale?

In perfect harmony with the handbags that surround it, Coronulidæ, this creation which mixes mesh and resin, blends wonderfully into the window of Versolato, at 9 rue Saint-Antoine du T. Created by Xavier Brisoux and Isabelle Soum, the art object, placed on a light wooden tray, is one of eleven creations to discover until November 20, in ten boutiques, located around Place Saint-Georges, in Toulouse, as part of the exhibition “The showcases of creation – The form is beyond”. “We are lucky to have this magnificent courtyard. We can therefore exhibit these works in a window, alongside our commercial activity. The goal is to introduce our universe through this,” announces Cédric Bignone, the manager of Versolato, which brings together a hairdressing salon, jewelry, clothing and interior decoration stores…

These “Showcases of Creation” were deliberately designed as a treasure hunt. “We are not trying to highlight the work in relation to the objects on sale so that there is no evidence and above all to preserve the element of surprise”, announces Jocelyn Lermé de Belem, the organizer of the event.

Thus, at 4 rue Paul Vidal, the Trait boutique, specializing in furniture and accessories, hides in its window three glass vases, blown in brick molds. They are the work of the Toulouse artist Valentine Dubois. “We love showcasing this type of designer creation, offering original objects, that’s also the DNA of our business,” assures Umberto Di Prisco, the store’s co-manager.

More unusual, in the Le Lieu shoe boutique, located at 14 rue de la Pomme, among pairs of sneakers, two candle holders and two small mirrors signed by designers Sacha Parent and Valentine Tiraboschi surprise visitors. “This operation brings us visibility since schools come to see these art objects,” recognizes Lina, the manager.

While Laurence is already preparing the Christmas window in her boutique Le Tanneur (24 place Saint-Georges), she reserves pride of place for La Medusa by Kuniko Maeda, among the leather bags. “It’s important to promote creation. This work is made of leather, as leather goods, we can say that it speaks to us since we are master craftsmen. We see a lot of people stopping to look at it”, rejoices Laurence.

Laurence Bratkiw, from the Le Taneur boutique, shows “La Medusa” which she houses in her window.
