From November 15 to 23, 2024, appointments are made in several locations in (80) for the 44th edition of the International Film Festival (FIFAM). Put your smartphones on silent mode and let yourself be transported by this event supported by Hauts-de-, land of cinema.

Hauts-de-France is a land of cinema: its atypical landscapes, its inhabitants… are all inspirations for directors who draw their material there to make films that are favorites for the French cinema-loving public. To add: its numerous festivals which put the 7ᵉ in the spotlight on its territory. FIFAM is part of this and promotes the region on a national and international scale. And this for over 40 years!

FIFAM, the unmissable event of the 7th Art

Big names and international stars have walked the FIFAM red carpet over all these years and have contributed to the cultural influence of the Hauts-de-France region. During this new edition, a rich and eclectic program awaits you again. For your greatest pleasure. Open your eyes and ears wide! Some examples of what will be on the program:

  • An opening ceremony with the feature films, “Dracula” by Francis Ford Coppola, a cult film inspired by the work of Bram Stoker, and “The Predators” by Scott Tony, dating from 1983, the theme which will be the common thread of this new edition and which has continued to inspire many directors;
  • A competition of 32 films, short, medium and feature films from all countries: to experience beautiful still journeys;
  • Afrofuturisms and African futurisms: another dive into the genre will be offered with a section devoted to African Afrofuturisms and futurisms. From the American sci-fi film “Nope” by Jordan Peele to the experimental collage film “Sol in the Dark” by Mawena Yehouessi, through the thoughts of Cameroonian filmmaker Jean-Pierre Bekolo, you will sail on multiple vessels alongside Sun Ra , musician-pharaoh of “Space is the place”. These Afro-centric stories within anticipatory universes draw on past traumas to imagine desirable futures, free from oppression. 17 films will be available to discover;
  • A young audience program: the 2024 Young Audience program is full of event sessions, three of which are linked to main themes: “Little Vampire” and the “Hotel Transylvania” movie snack will seek to vampirize our little ones on Wednesday afternoon , while Sébastien Laudenbach (co-director of Linda Wants Chicken) will come to present his tale “The Girl Without Hands” on Saturday 16 as part of the section “Film alone”;

Hauts-de-France, land of cinema

Every year, FIFAM launches a call for films to take the pulse of production in Hauts-de-France. And every year it receives a diverse set of films of all styles and genres. It is this diversity that he wanted to highlight in this programming. On the program, five fiction, documentary or animated films which each reflect in their own way an aspect of regional creation, whether they are filmed in Amiens, in the north or on the Picardy coasts. This session aims to question local production by exchanging with filmmakers about their respective creative journeys and current economic and artistic realities. Free session!   • Young Audiences: “Le Parfum de la carotte”, an animated program by Arnaud Demuynck, Rémi Durin, Anne Viel, Pascale Hecquet, Marjorie Caup, produced by Les Films du ;
  • Regional short films:

– “Emma la rouge”, a short film by Macha Ovtchinnikova, produced by the Groupe A association;

– “North Pole”, a short film by Richard Palm, produced by Superion;

– “Stuffed”, an animated short film by Louise Labrousse, produced by Tchack;

– “A girl like you”, a short film by Nathalie Dennes, produced by The Living.
