Disappearance of little Emile: his family is preparing to take a new crucial step, almost a year after the start of the case

In a little over two weeks, it will be two weeks since the case of little Emile’s disappearance began. The two and a half year old boy, on vacation with his grandparents in Haut-Vernet (village in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence), had escaped their supervision after his nap.

It was only on March 30 that this news item took a new turn. That day, a hiker discovered bones while walking a few kilometers from the site of Emile’s disappearance. Very quickly, the analyzes carried out demonstrated that these were indeed the bones of the little boy. Some of his clothes had also been discovered, like his shoes found without their laces… While analyzes are still being carried out and no leads have been ruled out in this case, brand new information has just been communicated.

Emile’s parents will finally be able to sign his death certificate

This Friday, June 21, 2024, Jean-Luc Blachon, the public prosecutor of Aix-en-Provence announced that the parents of little Emile will finally be able to sign his death certificate. However, it should be in the coming days, we learned. BFM YOU SAY. “This is a simple officialization of the death which has nothing significant for the investigation“, specify our colleagues, but this important step will allow Emile’s loved ones to move forward with their mourning.”This certificate formalizes the death of the child and will allow the family to undertake administrative and civil procedures., indicate BFM DICI which recalls that once the death certificate has been signed by Emile’s parents, this same task must be carried out by the mayor of Vernet, François Balique. However, the bones belonging to Emile cannot yet be returned to his family, as analyzes are still being carried out to try to advance the investigation.

At the beginning of June, BFM DICI announced that little Emile’s death certificate had still not been signed. The death certificate will not return the body to the relatives and only the investigating magistrates can issue the burial permit. Investigators are certainly seeking to specify the period of death in order to establish a death certificate as rigorously as possible. It’s long and sad but the time of Justice is not that of the family“, commented a magistrate.

If signing this death certificate does not provide answers in this matter, it will still allow Emile’s family to move forward with their mourning.
