Read, travel and thrill, this is what the “Le Tour du Monde en thrillers” collection, initiated by Catherine Fruchon-Toussaint and published by Editions du Masque, offers. On the occasion of the publication of the eleventh and twelfth titles in the series which take place in Italy and the United States, report by Mathilde Carriou at the launch party of these two new releases at the La Manoeuvre bookstore in .

“And who better than an author of detective novels to take us into the streets, the mazes, even the dark corners of a city such as they are never shown in travel guides? So London by Ruth Rendell who immerses us in the daily life of homeless people at the gates of Westminster, the Beijing of Charlotte Cahné who immerses us in the world of informers and drug addicts, without forgetting the San Francisco of Michael Nava who created the first detective lawyer homosexual on. the five continents, from Charles Haquet’s Japan to Sonia Cadet’s Réunion via Laurence Gavron’s Senegal, thrillers tell without filter the complexity of our societies, far from tourist clichés or to better pin them down, like Simon Brett in Greece.

Geographical journey therefore, but also historical journey with Iraq as Agatha Christie knew it, or even humorous journey with the Scot Alexander McCall Smith. Each volume of Around the World in Thrillers is an invitation to read – for pleasure, from the bottom of one’s bed, or by flying off to these distant lands with one of these novels in one’s pocket, in order to enlighten and to nourish your stay there.

A literary adventure that Editions du Masque are pleased to present to you by honoring nuggets from its catalog, rich since 1927 with detective novels from all walks of life.”

Catherine Fruchon-Toussaint, responsible for the program “Literature without borders” on RFI and contributor to the collection at Editions du Masque.
