“I have a liter and a half of blood spilled in my stomach”: Sara Forestier looks back on this traumatic memory that occurred just before a shoot

The actress Sara Forestier is currently starring in the feature film Three Friends by Emmanuel Mouret, in the role of Rebecca. The 38-year-old actress was heard on November 7 during a commission of inquiry into violence committed in the cinema, audiovisual, performing arts, fashion and advertising sectors, with a view to to find solutions to improve these industries. Sara Forestier participated in the first three days of filming of the film Good man by Marion Vernoux, during which she was accused of having slapped the actor Nicolas Duvauchelle.

During this commission, she notably revealed that, for economic reasons, the production would have contacted a media to accuse her of having given the slap, whereas, according to Sara Forestier, it was in reality he who would have slapped her. The one who directed the film M in 2017 wanted to return to this stormy shoot.

I was preparing for a shoot and my stomach hurt very, very badly, so bad that I had to lie down on a sofa, no one paid any attention to me. The same evening, when I got home, I went to the emergency room, I was in really too much pain, the doctor who examined me explained to me that I was having internal bleeding. I have a liter and a half of blood spilled in my stomach because I had just had an ectopic pregnancy and my tube had exploded. I immediately had surgery. Following that, I had peritonitis, it's a pretty serious infection where you can die, so I was hospitalized and I was put on intravenous antibiotics.” she began to say.

The filming she was on then had to be interrupted, but the filmmaker was not compassionate at all. “She yells at me, and tells me I should have called her sooner. (…) The start of filming was postponed by around ten days and before filming, I was told that the actor with whom I was going to film was a little angry. It 'piss' him off, I quote, that we postponed the filming because it didn't suit him for his next filming because he was tight on schedule. No compassion for me, no words of support regarding my hospitalization” she said. From the start of filming, Sara Forestier tried to show professionalism and to be “a good soldier“, as she explained, especially since she knew the producers and did not want to withdraw from the project.

The actress claims to have been slapped

However, the actress quickly felt that the filming would not go as planned. “At the end of the third day, over a trifle, a story about a prop that was on set, we don't understand each other on something and it annoys him and he speaks badly to me” she confided. So she went to see him in the dressing rooms right after to try to calm the situation. “He's not in the mood to talk, it annoys him, he doesn't want us to talk. He starts to get angry and says to me, 'Okay, go ahead, get out of there, push yourself or I'll slap you.' I'm shocked, I look at him and there, once again, I have my 'no' accompanying me and I say to him 'no, you're not threatening me and then you're not scaring me'. That annoys him, he doesn't like it, he climbs into the towers and slaps me. I get this slap, I scream and I immediately ask to be taken to the hospital, sorry…” she said, her throat tight with emotion and having difficulty continuing. Despite the team's attempts to stop her, she went to the police station. She also revealed that the director would have tried to dissuade her, by blackmailing her to prevent her from continuing. Finally, Sara Forestier found the strength to file a complaint. This affair had countless consequences on her private and professional life.
