(New York) Justin Timberlake was charged with drunken driving Tuesday morning in a Hamptons, New York, village after police say he ran a stop sign and left his lane in this chic little seaside town.

The singer and actor was driving a BMW 2025 in Sag Harbor around 12:30 a.m. when a police officer stopped him and determined he was intoxicated, according to a court document.
“His eyes were bloodshot and glassy, a strong odor of alcoholic beverage emanated from his breath, he was unable to divide his attention, he had slowed speech, he was staggering, and he performed poorly on all blood tests. standardized sobriety measures in the field,” reports the document.
Timberlake, 43, was released without bail later Tuesday morning. He was charged with misdemeanor drunken driving and his next court date was scheduled for July 26, the Suffolk County Prosecutor’s Office said.
Timberlake’s attorney and representatives did not immediately respond to requests for comment from The Associated Press.
Timberlake, still very young, had started performing as a “Disney Mouseketeer”, where his castmates included his future girlfriend Britney Spears. He rose to fame as part of the boy band NSYNC, then launched a solo career in 2002 and was one of the most influential figures in pop in the early 2000s.
