It’s going to be huge! . Alexandre Avril has stars in his eyes when he talks about it. On the outskirts of Albert-Benoist Park, this May 28, the mayor of Salbris, cell phone in hand, is proud to present to us the trailer of the event that the municipality will offer free of charge, within a few days, to its citizens .

Gladiator shows, chariot races…

Next Saturday June 22 and Sunday June 23, the Sologne town will host the second edition of the Salera ancient festival. On the program, numerous activities, including chariot races, concerts, Gallic banquets and ancient games…

Because even if, it is a fact, the town of Salbris is not known for its ancient remains, it has counted in history, from the time of the Gauls and the Romans. Its ancient name (Salera) is even cited in Julius Caesar’s reference work, The Gallic Wars.

It is this ancient past that Salbris intends to promote. Thus, after the success of the first edition, Alexandre Avril decided to extend the adventure. The City specifies that this meeting is intended “tourist and entertaining, regional in scope and combines culture and scientific mediation”.
