Ben Affleck believes his career and success hang by a thread.

The 52-year-old actor, who split from wife Jennifer Lopez earlier this year, made the confession during a joint interview with friend Matt Damon as they discussed creating their production company Artists Equity, which aims to create fairer pay systems.

He told Deadline.com: “We’re all prone to that kind of insecurity in this business. Whether we are actors, directors or screenwriters, the phone can stop ringing for us […]. That’s the only thing I can count on, that initial money. I don’t know when it will disappear. I’m one wrong remark away from being blacklisted, or one movie failure away from never working again, and I have a family, etc. »

The two actors’ production company allows artists to invest in the projects they produce so that profits are distributed more equitably. Ben Affleck admits he wants to end the era where big stars make huge money even if the studio makes a loss on their film, and he gave the example of his film Gigli, which was a failure in 2003.

He explained: I’ve acted in films like ‘Gigli’, that’s a famous example. I received a big salary for this. Looking back, I don’t feel good because they [le studio] lost money. It wasn’t the most profitable film in history, even if it was the most famous turnip in history, perhaps. However, this does not suit me. »
