No Intervilles without cows! The towns of Dax and Mont-de-Marsan have announced to the local press that they will not participate in the return of the cult show planned for next summer on France Télévisions. In question, the four new evenings (the game has no longer been broadcast in a permanent form since 2009) planned will take place without the traditional cows, the most popular events of the show.
“This implies that they (the cows) would suffer trauma by participating in Intervilles. Which is absolutely not the case. In this context, we declined the proposal made to us,” explained Julien Dubois, mayor of Dax, to France Bleu.
“Intervilles without cows, it’s not Intervilles”
Ditto on the Mont-de-Marsan side. “Intervilles without the cows, it’s a bit like surimi or Canada Dry, it lacks flavor,” laughs Charles Dayot, mayor of the Landes prefecture, to our colleagues. And to continue, in a more serious tone: “Intervilles without cows, it’s not Intervilles. It’s something else, it’s a fair, or a game show of some sort, but it’s not called Intervilles.”
These two historic cities of the show, which have already won it three times each, will therefore not compete again next summer. Created in 1962 then interrupted after 10 years, the game show made its first return in 1985 on FR3, before switching to TF1 from 1986 to 1991.
Subsequently, “Intervilles” made several sporadic returns, with other presenters including, already, Nagui who will make his return. Also a producer of the show, the latter is firmly committed to the animal cause, and opposed to the presence of cows.
