While season 4 of the series “Outer Banks” is available on Netflix, the creators spoke about the future of this universe, which is very popular with the platform’s subscribers. Will they be entitled to spin-offs?
One of Netflix’s most popular series, Outer Banks can boast of having brought together a very large community of very invested fans. Each season is a hit for this fiction by Josh Pate, Jonas Pate and Shannon Burke which receives a rating of 4 out of 5 from AlloCiné spectators.
This series for young adults mixing action, adventure and romance, features the Pogues, a group of friends made up of John B (Chase Stokes), Sarah (Madelyn Cline), Kiara (Madison Bailey), JJ (Rudy Pankow), Pope (Jonathan Daviss) and Cleo (Carlacia Grant), who embark on various treasure hunts, directly or indirectly linked to family secrets.
Will the universe of the “Outer Banks” series expand further?
The fourth season of Outer Banks has been available in full for a few days on Netflix and fans are already very invested in the twists and turns, the intrigues and especially the tragic end of this new burst of episodes.
The platform has already announced that the series has been renewed for a fifth season, which will also be the last, in accordance with the creators’ initial plan. But this final burst of episodes will perhaps not mark the end of the Outer Banks universe.
This is what the creators of the series seem to have teased in an interview with Deadline: “We are very excited about season 5 and also other stories in this universe.”
While they didn’t give further details, they did indicate that ideas for potential spinoff series and other ideas for expanding the Outer Banks universe are being explored. According to American media sources, there is currently no project officially in development.
But it would not be surprising if Netflix adopted this strategy for Outer Banks, as the platform does for its most popular series, such as Bridgerton or Stranger Things.
A true popular phenomenon on the platform and on social networks, Outer Banks already has an invested community and an expanding universe, with the series, the video game and the annual Poguelandia event, a sort of music festival which has brought together many fans.
