The prime of Friday, November 8 offered its share of memorable moments. Good and bad. Indeed, a Beyoncé medley performed by Marguerite, Maya, Julie, Marine, Emma and Ebony, which could have shone, was catastrophic.
Marlène Schaff, professor of stage expression usually rather lenient and benevolent in her criticisms, put on her hat of bad cop. During the debrief, she did not mince her words. “It was a fair… That’s not acceptable what you girls did. You two were so not together. I don’t understand how such a performance is even possible with the level that you all have,” she said, exasperated.
That’s not all. She highlighted the lack of listening between the singers: “The sentences are the competition for the one who will swing the most.” And so as not to miss anything, she also tackled their English pronunciation, which, let’s be honest, would have made Beyoncé herself frown.
Friday evening still had its share of very successful performances, such as the beautiful duet of Marguerite and Lucky Love on “Masculinity” and that of Vaudoise Julie, who shone during the finale of her solo on “The Singer” by Daniel Balavoine.
